Since taking on the role of Cover Manager in September 2015, I have made extensive use of Step by Step’s resources in terms of the advice from Phil and his team, and of course the highly competent supply teachers that they send to us here at our school.

They’re only ever a phone call away, personable, happy to help and always professional. They’ve made my job as easy as they can.

I approached Step by Step because we needed supply staff for the school.

The team at Step by Step helped me by taking the time to visit the school and find out about us. They researched what sort of environment the staff would be working in and what we expected from them.

The result was a personal service that ensured we got good staff to suit our needs. Phil doesn’t just send a person, he tries to fit the person to our needs. He takes the time to find the qualities in a person that is right for us as a school.

One thing I liked was how honest they were if they did not think a person was the right fit for our school.

I would recommend Step by Step to people who need to feel confident they are getting the best service. They go the extra mile to make sure we are satisfied and happy.

Whether you are just starting out or you’re further on in your career, Step by Step are the people you should talk to.

Some agencies may be very visible but Step by Step are so much more than just a name; they are a relationship. They are reliable communicators who excel in developing good working relationships with both schools and teachers.

Their friendly and conscientious staff will listen to what you are looking for and work for you to match you with the schools and age groups you are best suited to. They will keep you up to date with both short and long term offers of work, offering the flexibility and balance you need, whatever your own circumstances. Furthermore, in a spirit of fairness, they offer a more competitive rate of pay than some of the other agencies.

Step by step were recommended to me and I am so glad that they turned out to be exactly what I had hoped for. You can’t beat a personal recommendation and this is my advice to you; give Step by Step a call. It could be the perfect start, or new start, that you are looking for.

Robin, Experienced Teacher

Step by Step have given me an enormous amount of support since it first began and has made the job of Cover Manager so much more easy. The availability of a 24-hour personal service, including weekends, has been invaluable. Phil and his colleagues are always friendly, extremely approachable and their ability to provide quality cover teachers is excellent. Their hard work certainly deserves every success.

Pat Pepper, Cover Manager, Workington Academy

Step by Step was recommended to me by the headteacher at the school I was completing my final placement with during my PGCE. The headteacher explained to me that Step by Step was unlike the other teaching agencies because they adopted a very personal approach, whereas other agencies may treat you merely as a number.

Step by Step adopt a very personal and friendly approach to their work. I immediately felt at home talking to Colette and knew she would always try to find me the right work that suited my needs best.

I also signed up with a bigger, more established agency but felt they never even tried to match me with the sort of work that I said I was looking for. With Step by Step I was continually offered work that wholly suited my needs.

I am still in touch with Step by Step, even though I have now secured a permanent position and I know if ever I am passing their offices I can pop in for a chat and a brew.

I cannot recommend Step by Step enough!

Paula, NQT

Thank you for all your help in getting me introduced to the schooling system here. It has been a great help. I am glad I had the opportunity of going into classes before I had to start a permanent job.
